Survival Scenario

Maybe I am paranoid. But it works well for me. Makes me ponder things like this.
I think about things that may happen. I see that some of the things that happen far from here, like giant snow storms, and tornados, could possibly happen here too.

Scenario-

A freak snow storm has dumped 3 feet a day for 3 days.
You cannot even go outside, let alone go to the store, which is closed anyway.
School was canceled, due to a snow alert, so you and all your family is home.
Land lines and Cell towers are dead. No communication is possible.

Right now, this very second, your electric goes off, and is unlikely to come back on for over a month.

The snow plows and FEMA can't get anywhere near you for weeks.

You are shut into your house, and can not come out for a long time.

---------------------------------------------------------------

OK. Now for a few questions. Not questions for you to
answer to me, but some you should answer to yourself.

Will you die?.......from what? Lack of food, water, meds?

Will you live?.......how?

Will you freeze? Got lots of blankets? Long Johns?

Will you starve?...or will you eat?

The snow is 9 feet deep, and covering your windows..can you get fresh air into the home?

Can you keep mental stability in yourself and others? Got games and cards to play with to distract from the looming fear?

Most importantly....What can you do now, BEFORE it happens, to survive this scenario?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for me and mine, we will live. Simply because I prepare for such things.
Everyone should.

  1. Good post. I think we'd be fine. In VT we're used to snow storms. Got tons of wood for our woodstove, months worth of food & water. We could cook both on the woodstove or the gas stove/oven. We have meds & first aid although I'd like to stock up on more. We have cards, games, musical instruments, books, etc. to keep us occupied although I'm sure the kids will go stir crazy by then.

  2. cabin fever became famous from it's widespread disastrous consequences,,,mental activities, solo as well as communal,,are essential to the human psyche..cards, dice, boardgames, word games, et cetera,DO help, though more is needed..periods of isolation from "the group" may help some maintain equilibrium,,everybody is different in their perceptions...being able to get outside is a necessity in times of stressful situations.(provided it's not lethal)..meditation and inner disciplines should be learned and practiced long before being needed to maintain sanity,,,,big subject..ymmv
